2008 was the inaugural year in an ongoing, aspirational project dedicated to the observation of the sun every time it crosses the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others while ringing bells. It is based on the conviction that something as inarguable as the movement of the earth can be used as a point of unity and awareness among large groups of people who might otherwise find it impossible to agree. SUNSET 2/20/08

We Are Not Hare Krishnas

We are standing on the bridge over the canal that runs between the Volkswagen factory and Autostadt on one side and phaeno science museum on the other. A few of the artists currently setting up their installation as part of the show at phaeno took a break to watch the sunset this evening. We were joined by a family returning from the Autostadt. They said they felt like Hare Krishnas.
