Day 182 sheltering in place with neighbors- NT
2008 was the inaugural year in an ongoing, aspirational project dedicated to the observation of the sun every time it crosses the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others while ringing bells. It is based on the conviction that something as inarguable as the movement of the earth can be used as a point of unity and awareness among large groups of people who might otherwise find it impossible to agree. Sun is still glowing off the roof here - as the 15-minute warning siren blares from somewhere deep inside the Hasidic neighborhood across the street. Known as the Shabbat siren, it sounds every Friday night in advance of Shabbat.Posted by Brenda Hutchinson at 6:00 PM 0 comments

This is a celebratory moment. Our next-door neighbor is back working on his car again now that it’s possible to see and breathe again outside. Hello to Matt from across the street and thanks, Norman for holding down the fort.Posted by Brenda Hutchinson at 8:00 PM 0 comments

As soon as I arrived, my niece and I went for COVID tests around the corner. Unlike many places in the Bay Area, it’s so easy here in NY. This is us celebrating the results with a quick trip to the grocery store. Also, unlike California, they want you to supply your own bag. Hence the armload of goodies along with the bell.Posted by Brenda Hutchinson at 5:51 PM 0 comments
