Day 137 the sky blinked

August 5, 2020. Sunset 8:13 PM.
San Francisco, CA.

From the time it took to walk downstairs and wheel the bell out to the sidewalk, the sky went from a sliver of red glow to complete white out. Just like that.

Day 136 Just the bells this evening

August 4, 2020. Sunset 8:14 PM.
San Francisco, CA.

Our neighbor must have finished his project with the power tools. All the birds took the night off or were celebrating elsewhere. So, it was just us ringing on the sidewalk. Thanks Elisabeth and Norman!

Day 135 Something Ordinary

August 3, 2020. Sunset 8:15 PM.
San Francisco, CA.

Tonight was the first time this felt like a mundane necessity- like getting the mail or putting out the trash. Our nearest neighbors nod or wave as they go about their own business - silently incorporating our routine into theirs. It felt very comfortable. Ordinary.

“The pink in the trees is the reflection from the sunset. It was only for a moment as the sun was setting and it was the reflection from the lake. The brightness was so much inside the house it stopped me. The I looked outside in the woods. It was only by accident I saw this. It was gone in a moment.”

Day 134 Squeaky wings and power tools

August 2, 2020. Sunset 8:16 PM.
San Francisco, CA.

Pink sky for a change. The dove is the current bird of the moment—again with the squeaky wings (0:32). And our neighbor across the street is still working on something we can’t see.
