2008 was the inaugural year in an ongoing, aspirational project dedicated to the observation of the sun every time it crosses the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others while ringing bells. It is based on the conviction that something as inarguable as the movement of the earth can be used as a point of unity and awareness among large groups of people who might otherwise find it impossible to agree. SUNRISE 1/10/08

I'm sitting here in brooklyn watching the sunrise as i like to do as much as possible. Seems harder in the winter months. It's comforting to know you are doing this. I think of my mother and how for as long as I can remember she has prayed for me and her children every morning at 4am for one hour and at 7pm for one hour. Every single day without failure! I think of this loving being sending out a kind vibration into the world. These things count.
