2008 was the inaugural year in an ongoing, aspirational project dedicated to the observation of the sun every time it crosses the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others while ringing bells. It is based on the conviction that something as inarguable as the movement of the earth can be used as a point of unity and awareness among large groups of people who might otherwise find it impossible to agree. SUNRISE 2/27/08

Sky Line

We have been staying all week with my friend Barbara. She is originally from Minnesota and she went to a powwow in Leech, MN about 4 years ago. Most of the people participating in the dances had these little bells attached to their clothes. They are made from rolled up snuff box tops. They are very lightweight and make the most delicate sound so far for the morning ringing.
