2008 was the inaugural year in an ongoing, aspirational project dedicated to the observation of the sun every time it crosses the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others while ringing bells. It is based on the conviction that something as inarguable as the movement of the earth can be used as a point of unity and awareness among large groups of people who might otherwise find it impossible to agree. “Spring Equinox Ambient Bird”

March 20, 2025. Sunset 7:21 PM. Berkeley, CA.
This was an unexpectedly warm evening (until the sun set) with a gentle Equinox performance of Wendy Reid’s “Spring Equinox Ambient Bird” piece. This was the moment just after the piece finished as it coincided with the sunset at the Indian Rock Park— Even a slight walk up the slope offered a surprisingly wide-angle view of the Bay and Bay Bridge and distant horizon on the Pacific Ocean.
