2008 was the inaugural year in an ongoing, aspirational project dedicated to the observation of the sun every time it crosses the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others while ringing bells. It is based on the conviction that something as inarguable as the movement of the earth can be used as a point of unity and awareness among large groups of people who might otherwise find it impossible to agree. Homestretch Halloween

October 31, 2022. Sunset 6:10 PM. Oakland, CA. This may be the last year for trick or treating with the kids not so interested in the strolling candy quest any longer. Though this is an enthusiastic neighborhood where neighbors go all out with decorations, haunting their houses and lawns with sounds and staged fun/scary tableau. Maybe there will be some haunting going on at the house next year. Happy Halloween everyone—
