2008 was the inaugural year in an ongoing, aspirational project dedicated to the observation of the sun every time it crosses the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others while ringing bells. It is based on the conviction that something as inarguable as the movement of the earth can be used as a point of unity and awareness among large groups of people who might otherwise find it impossible to agree. lighting the home stretch

September 29, 2020. Sunset 7:31 PM. West Texas. After a whirlwind 3-day drive from Providence, Julian and I arrived back at our place in the mountains of far west Texas Tuesday evening September 29. By chance we hit the dirt road 10 miles from home just as the sun was setting…bell-ringing attached! I am going to miss Providence…but it feels really good to be back at our snug little perch.
