August 21, 2020. The smoke has been shifting all day- Big Basin is an old growth Redwood forest nearby and it has burned all the way from the town of Boulder out to the ocean. There was a major fire there 100 years ago and it came back- It was the first Redwood forest I had ever seen and one of my favorite places to visit since I first arrived in the Bay Area over 40 years ago. Hopefully it will regenerate, though sadly not in our lifetime — a gift and refuge for future generations.
