2008 was the inaugural year in an ongoing, aspirational project dedicated to the observation of the sun every time it crosses the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others while ringing bells. It is based on the conviction that something as inarguable as the movement of the earth can be used as a point of unity and awareness among large groups of people who might otherwise find it impossible to agree. Most Joyful Noise-- Garden of Memory Solstice Celebration 2017

The most amazing dailybell solstice so far-- this year's sunset bell ringing is the 10th performance at the annual 'Garden of Memory' event at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland. The Garden of Memory is curated by Sarah Cahill and populated by 1000's of people who come to share the Solstice with fabulous performances in such a beautiful and unique place.

Blessings and kudos to all who participated with the Cardew Choir in the 4 hour performance of Pauline Oliveros' 'Heart Chant'. The vocal sound and energy was so contagious it spread throughout the crowd. It was magical. Thank you all
