Why is it called a July Buck Moon?
"The full Moon in July is called the Buck Moon because the antlers of male deer (bucks) are in full-growth mode at this time," as The Old Farmer's Almanac says. "Bucks shed and regrow their antlers each year, producing a larger and more impressive set as the years go by."

What is a supermoon?
“Supermoons by definition happen ‘when a full moon coincides with the Moon's closest approach to Earth in its elliptical orbit, a point known as perigee,’ according to NASA.”

How do I find out what time to view this supermoon? "The best times to view the buck moon will be at moonrise and moonset. You can find your local times for those here".

Visiting dear old friends as I wind my way back to Brooklyn after saying goodbye to Krys and Zo at Krys’ mom’s home in Chicopee, MA. It’s been a blessing-- So good to be moving around and wonderful to spend time with people I haven't seen in such a long time.

Cross species siblings

There's a long story in this photo. These neighbors have been involved with the sunset bellringing since we began more than 15 years ago. Henry was 3 years old. This evening he was telling us how his dog (you can see her little tail there) runs to the door every night when she hears the bell. He could have been talking about his younger self. We would see him plastered to the window across the street, all excited, usually in his pajamas. History repeating itself. Thank you Matt for your reliable presence and company here for all these years.
